Advice for High School

ADVICE FOR HIGH SCHOOL

My parents gave me a bit of advice for next year at High School. The three main things they said were: get in student council, get involved with activities, and have a blast. They really encouraged me to do student council. They said that if I were to get in student council then I could meet a lot of upperclassmen and become acquainted with them. They also said that being in student council is a lot of fun and very enjoyable. On top of all this you get to be a leader at your school and you get to represent your grade. I think that this would be a lot of fun to be in student council at the High School.

Another thing that my parents told me to do was to get involved with sports, clubs, or activities. They said that in each of these there are people who have similar interests as you and they can become a friend to you. This is a good way to get in with a friend group while having fun. These sports, clubs, and activities are what some of the things that you're only going to get to do in High School. Not every person gets the chance to play college or professional sports so enjoy them while they last. Try a new sport, band, or the robotic team. You might meet some people who you can become very good friends with.

The main piece of advice that my parents gave to me as I am going into High school is to have as much fun as you possibly can. There is nothing else like High School. The four years that you are at the High School may be the last four years that you get to go out and be a kid. Once you get your High School Diploma you have to start being independent which can be hard. You have to go to college, live in an apartment, buy grocery's, and many other things. Enjoy the four years at the High School were my parents words of advice. My mom said that after you get out of High School you are going to miss it, so don't complain about going to school. It may be some of the most fun years of our life.

"School in a Perfect World"

                                                                              "School in a Perfect World"
School in a perfect world would be something very special. Right now our school is doing an okay job at doing what I think would be a school in a perfect world. In my world school should be a place where we learn, but have a fun time learning. I am not saying that homework shouldn't be at school, but I am saying that homework could be made in a fun way. For example you could make up some sort of game to do instead of a math assignment. Right now computers is a very fun class because we get to do a lot of creative stuff on computers. This makes the class easier to engage in than some other classes. I think that there are a few ways that our school can improve on things that I think need to be changed.

I personally think that students should have a little bit longer lunch break. During lunch it should be a social event not a scarf your food down your throat in two minutes get back to class sort of deal. When students get school lunch here at the school it can take a while to get through the line which can eat up a good portion of our lunch break. Not only is lunch supposed to be fun, but it is also supposed to be a good break from school for a little to get out of the books and get outside to play. Another thing that I think our school could improve on is making learning more fun. Students engage in teacher's lessons longer when they are interesting or fun. I personally have a hard time listening when the lesson is something that isn't very interesting. I personally love school and want to learn as much as I can while having fun.

The one other thing that I think would be nice to have in school is more comfortable chairs. Students sit in chairs most of the school day. When we sit in these uncomfortable chairs we can get sore backs. This could easily be solved by buying either new chairs or cushions. School in a Perfect World would also consist of students who want to be at school. We are only in school for the beginning part of our lives. I wish that all students had the desire to come to school, learn, and participate. When people are at school simply because they have to they don't get anything out of it. You have to go to school until you are done with High School so you might as well make the most of it. Education is free for your first eighteen years of your life so make the most of it.

I Believe I......

I Believe I am going to Love High School.....

I believe that I am going to love high school. I am super excited to be with the older kids and be able to take a variety of classes. Up to this point in our school career we have taken the normal science, math, social studies, P.E., Language Arts, Literature, Health, and some sort of elective. In high school we can take different kinds of sciences, health, and other classes. I am excited to take more exotic classes like biology, calculus, and health occupations. I believe that these new classes will give us more things to learn and enjoy. I think that these new classes will help us to me more interested in what we want to learn.
I believe that I am going to have blast next year doing sports at the high school. Next year I am going to play soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and tennis in the spring. I am excited to join the teams because I have a lot of friends joining them with me too. Hopefully next year the boys soccer team can do as well as they did last year. Last year they won state so next year it is going to be hard to follow up. I am hoping that there are going to be enough boys next year that we will have a JV soccer team. If there aren't enough boys then they will either make a co-ed JV team or they will simply have a very large varsity team. If you have any interest in coming out for soccer next year go for it. Soccer is a great sport and all of the kids on the team currently are very nice.
I believe that I am going to love all of the spirit days, assemblies, and people at the high school. I am ready for new spirit days. Here at the middle school we have the same spirit days almost every single year. Next year at the high school during homecoming week there a bunch of fun spirit days. I am also super pumped about the mess assemblies next year. At the mess assemblies they do crazy weird stuff. It is basically a whole assembly with Mr. Panico doing weird things. Most of the stuff they do in the assembly is gross, but it is hilarious to watch. I am thrilled that we are going to high school next year. I believe I am going to love high school next year.

Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy is a brain disorder that can cause many problems in people. These problems could be not being able to relax your muscles, lack of balance, or fluttering your legs at random times. There are three types of Cerebral Palsy. They are Spastic, Athetoid, and Ataxic. The most common of the three types is Spastic. Spastic CP makes it so the patient can not relax their muscles. There muscles are always stiff. Athetoid CP causes people to not be able to control their muscles. People with this type at any time could move their legs or arms. Ataxic CP causes people to be shaky with their balance and coordination. Cerebral Palsy can affect a persons ability to walk, talk, eat, or move the way that other people do. CP can be mild or severe like most diseases. Depending on how much of the brain is affected rates the severeness. In most cases doctors do not know the cause of Cerebral Palsy. Doctors do know that the damage to the brain is caused when a baby is very young. Diagnosis is usually very early in life. CP doesn't progress, but how it affects a person can change as a person grows older and lives on their own. Usually the best way to manage CP is a combination of parents, teachers, doctors, and therapists. If you know someone that has CP the best thing that you can do for them is to treat that person like you would anyone else. If they need a little extra help then give it to them, but don't make a big deal about it. Also try and include them in on things that you are doing. There is no cure for CP so being there for those who have it is the best way to give them support.
These are the types of CP and what they affect and what part of the brain that they affect.

Glow In the Dark Easter Bunny

Dear Nate Haslam,
It's me the Easter Bunny. I just wanted to write a letter to you to make sure that your school makes the right choice for the dessert dance theme. Glow in the dark is the obvious choice. I think that over the years delivering eggs to you I have found that your class of students tends to like very strangely colored eggs. I think that this will directly translate into your personality.
P.S. I painted myself glow in the dark to support the campaign.
Love,
          The Easter Bunny
